Chimpanzee quit smoking

At a zoo in northwest China, a chimpanzee quit smoking after safari park staff gave her delicious food and taught her to listen to beautiful music.

Some time ago, zoo veterinarians began to notice a deterioration in the health of a 27-year-old monkey named Ai-ai. The reason for this was her passionate habit of smoking for 16 years. Ai-ay became addicted to this harmful activity in 1989 after her partner died. In 1997, the chimpanzee lost another friend, and her daughter was given to another zoo. Since then, the monkey has become a heavy smoker, and the employees of the institution began to note her health problems.

In order to wean Ai-ai from a bad habit, the safari park workers have developed a whole program. They started feeding the monkey delicious food, taking him for a fun walk after breakfast, and taking him to the gym in the afternoon.

According to zoo officials, Ai-ai's diet consists only of healthy foods: milk, bananas, rice and dumplings. In addition, during walks, zookeepers put headphones on the chimpanzee's head so that she can enjoy good music.

As a result, veterinarians have achieved the desired result. After the first few days, which were quite painful for Ai-ai due to the lack of nicotine, the chimpanzee completely forgot about the bad habit, as her life became more colorful and eventful. At the moment, the park staff are looking for a partner for Ai-Ai.
