Based on the results of the analysis of the state of fire safety, the Minsk city prosecutor's office instructed the Minsk city department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Minsk City Executive Committee to take additional measures to prevent fires and deaths in them, including in housing stock, BelTA informs citing the information service of the prosecutor's office.
According to the prosecutor's office, the main causes of fires were careless handling of fire, especially while intoxicated , as well as non-compliance with fire safety rules when installing, operating electrical networks and electrical equipment.The issue of restricting outsiders' access to technical premises, basements, attics of residential buildings, unused buildings remained problematic. Shortcomings in terms of control over the maintenance and operation of such facilities have been identified in the activities of the operating organizations of the city.
The situation with fires in the capital is taken under the control of the prosecutor's office.
Since the beginning of the year, negative trends in the field of preventing the death of citizens from fire have been identified in the capital region. During the first quarter, the number of fires increased by 7.4%, deaths from them - by 10%. One child died.
