Metropolitan Veniamin: Young people are not sufficiently aware of the harmful effects of vaping

Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus. March 28, Minsk . Young people are insufficiently aware of the harmful effects of vaping, Metropolitan Veniamin of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus and co-chair of the Public Council on Morality, told reporters, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"We are concerned about the promotion of the cult of consumerism. Human nature is weak, and the desire for quick enrichment can overtake both young and old people. This is greatly facilitated by gambling advertising, which entices with easy money. We plan to organize a roundtable discussion on this topic this year . The event is planned to be held in collaboration with scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus," Metropolitan Veniamin said.

According to him, the Council on Morality continues to study the situation regarding restrictions on advertising products that are harmful to young people. "The problem of the proliferation of energy drinks, low-alcohol drinks in small containers, nicotine pouches, vapes, scent generators, and other products harmful to health among young people is becoming increasingly acute. These issues are widely discussed. And we know that the first deaths from the use of these scent generators and other products are occurring. However, unfortunately, young people are not sufficiently aware of the detrimental consequences of their use on health and life," Metropolitan Veniamin emphasized.
