August 15,
Minsk . Chinese buyers are happy to purchase Belarusian goods on the Internet. The greatest demand is for dark chocolate, sea buckthorn and birch juices, sparkling and red wines. Kirill Koroteev, First Deputy General
Director of the Industrial Park Development Company, spoke about this in the talk show “Economic Environment” on the TV channel.
China is one of the world leaders in terms of e-commerce development.
Belarus began actively promoting its products on Chinese social platforms two years ago, and the National Pavilion appeared at the same time. As the expert emphasized, the main goal of the pavilion’s creators was not to gain commercial benefit, but to promote Belarus and its brands in the Middle Kingdom. Through short videos, the platform developers convey information about Belarus to the Chinese viewer, talk about the customs of Belarusians, their way of life and heroic past.
“About five thousand different videos on this topic have already been recorded. We are steadily growing in new subscribers, which is why interest in Belarus and our products is steadily growing,” said Kirill Koroteev. “We have about three million regular subscribers, some of them are buyers, in two year we counted about 1 million."
The first deputy general director added that most often Chinese buyers purchase Belarusian chocolate, giving preference to bitter types.
China actively takes juices from Belarus, especially sea buckthorn and birch. Belarusian is also in demand
alcohol . Sparkling and red wines are more in demand, while strong
alcohol is less popular among Chinese consumers. “In China, online sales of alcoholic beverages are allowed, but with certain restrictions,” explained the deputy general director.
Belarusian goods are promoted in China through streams and videos on social networks. As Kirill Koroteev noted, the average buyer and target audience of an information product are Chinese aged 50+.
