April 21, Brest. The Brest inter-district department of the Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of a criminal case on violation of safety rules for construction work, due to which a worker in a trench was covered with sand, BelTA learned from the UK.

A criminal case has been initiated against the chief engineer of one of the enterprises of the regional center. According to the investigation, in September 2021, when cleaning a trench in Brest, soil fell on a worker. Fortunately, the 58-year-old man survived. He was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries. According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, he was found to have bodily injuries classified as serious on the basis of "danger to life." Now his life and HEALTH are not in danger.

The investigator, with the involvement of a specialist from the UGKSE for the Brest region, conducted an inspection of the scene, interrogated the accused, the victim and witnesses. The conclusions of expert studies have been studied and attached to the materials of the criminal case. When studying the technical documentation, information was received that the worker received an instruction from the chief engineer, who did not adequately ensure the safe performance of land work.

The actions of the figurant are qualified under part 1 of article 303 (violation of the rules for the safety of construction work, which negligently entailed the infliction of grievous bodily injury) of the Criminal Code. He is under bail. Previously, the defendant was not brought to criminal responsibility.

The materials of the criminal case were handed over to the prosecutor for sending to the COURT.

The Investigative Committee recommends that in order to prevent industrial injuries, observe safety precautions when performing work, regularly undergo training in safe labor practices, all types of briefings and testing knowledge on labor protection issues. You also need to follow the rules of the internal labor schedule and do not consume alcoholic beverages, drugs during work.
