Measures are being taken in Dagestan to revive the culture of agriculture

On September 14, on the basis of the Agricultural College in the city of Buynaksk, a meeting was held on the issues of organized sowing of grain crops in the rainfed conditions of Dagestan. Also at the event, issues of entering information into the FSIS "Grain" and measures to ensure objective statistical accounting of agricultural products were considered.
The meeting was chaired by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan Sharip Sharipov. It was attended by the head of the Dagestan branch of the Rosselkhoztsentr Zhanna Kazanbieva, the first deputy director of the Minmeliovodkhoz of the Republic of Dagestan Bigish Chaniev, acting. Director of the Federal Agrarian Research Center of the Republic of Dagestan Nariman Nimatulaev, Director of the Dagestan Experimental Station - a branch of the All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources Kishtili Kurkiev, acting Head of the State Center for Agrochemical Service "Dagestansky" Magad Magadov, Head of the Dagestan branch of the Center for Agroanalytics Nutsalai Khaibulaeva, Head of the Department of Dagestanstat Gasan Gitinomagomedov, as well as heads of regional agricultural authorities, heads of agricultural enterprises and farmers of the republic.
Opening the event, Sharip Sharipov recalled that in 2022, winter sowing will be carried out in Dagestan on an area of 96 thousand hectares, of which more than half is located on rainfed lands. According to him, the factor limiting the yield is low moisture availability, therefore, efforts should be concentrated on the use of agricultural technologies aimed at accumulating moisture in the soil.
The first deputy minister noted that the soils in the republic are overcompacted due to annual plowing to the same depth, multiple passes of heavy equipment across the field, which disrupts moisture and air exchange, soil structure and reduces yields. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic has launched the “Let's Destroy the Plow Pan” project, within which more and more farms are using soil ploughs, as well as introducing other methods to combat soil overconsolidation.
One of the mechanisms for obtaining high yields on rainfed lands is the use of black fallows as a precursor for winter grains, Sharip Sharipov recalled. He cited the example of the Gadzhimurzaev peasant farm in the Buynaksky district, where an average of 55 centners per hectare of winter wheat was obtained on rain-fed lands for fallow, with an average yield of 24.8 centners per hectare in the republic. In the Sergokalinsky district, black fallows are also widely used as a precursor of winter cereals, which makes it possible to obtain up to 33 c/ha. The First Deputy Minister also noted the effectiveness of the no-tillage system (No-Till), which is successfully applied throughout the area of the Granit farm in the Khasavyurt district.
Magomed Gadzhimurzaev, Head of the Department of Agriculture of the Buynaksky District, and Gusen Khasbulatov, Chief Agronomist of the Department of Agriculture of the Sergokalinsky District, spoke in detail about their experience in cultivating winter grains in black fallows. Numerous questions from the meeting participants made it possible to understand in detail the secrets of the agronomic success of these regions.
Sharip Sharipov urged the farms to use the positive experience of these regions. To this end, he asked the leaders of the FARC RD and DOS VIR to prepare methodological manuals based on the experience of these farms for subsequent replication.
Representatives of agricultural science also spoke during the meeting.
Nariman Nimatulaev urged agricultural producers not to be afraid to experiment, to introduce humic substances into the soil more actively, to treat seeds, to choose their varieties correctly, and to observe the sowing dates.
Kishtili Kurkiev recommended micro-zoning, selecting seed varieties that are suitable for a particular area and even a separate land plot. According to him, in the conditions of Dagestan, it is potentially possible to obtain grain yields of up to 50 centners per hectare, for which it is necessary to widely apply advanced agricultural technologies.
Zhanna Kazanbieva spoke about the wide range of services provided by the service for farmers, noting where it is necessary to strengthen interaction. According to her, the total demand for seeds of winter cereals from the farmers of the republic is 22.1 thousand tons. To date, 94% of those tested by the regional branch of the Rosselkhozcenter meet the requirements.
Amir Velikhanov, head of the Dagestansky SCAC department, spoke about the agrochemical state of the soils of the republic.
Bigish Chaniev reported on the provision of agricultural producers with irrigation water, who gave a detailed account of the situation in the reclamation complex.
Nutsalai Khaybulaeva recalled that the period of mandatory data entry into the FSIS "Grain" began on September 1, spoke about the state of affairs in this area.
Gasan Gitinomagomedov, head of the department of agricultural statistics of Dagestanstat, and Musa Radzhabadziev, general director of Dagestan-Parus LLC, highlighted the issues of accounting for agricultural products, including households.
During the meeting, acting also spoke. director of the Agricultural College Arsen Magomedov, who spoke about the work carried out at the educational institution to train personnel for the agro-industrial complex of the republic.
Summing up the results of the meeting, Sharip Sharipov emphasized that the agricultural sector of Dagestan has a huge potential and it is necessary to ensure its full involvement in economic activities through joint efforts.
“The leadership of the republic has set responsible tasks for us, the implementation of which requires a radical revision of the existing approaches. At the forefront is the task of the widespread introduction of modern agricultural technologies, each element of which requires due attention. There are no trifles in agriculture, as well as template approaches. It is extremely important to perform agrotechnical operations in optimal time. Here we cannot do without strengthening the link between agricultural science and production, whose representatives should systematically replicate best practices and provide the necessary consulting support. We need to demonstrate effective mechanisms for agricultural production to managers and specialists of farms in the field. The land requires careful treatment and the adoption of measures to increase its fertility, for which it is impossible to do without justified crop rotations,
