Rostov Region takes part in the international exhibition of food industry and agro-industrial sector "Food Africa 2023"

The 8th annual international exhibition of the food industry and agro-industrial sector "Food Africa 2023" opened today in Cairo (Arab Republic of Egypt
). This agri-food forum combines a modern exhibition format, a platform for business events and the conclusion of agreements between representatives of agribusiness. Thanks to the event, exporters of agricultural products can gain access not only to the food market of Egypt, but also to Africa as a whole.
The Don region is represented at the exhibition by a collective exposition formed by leading enterprises of the food and processing industry, with a total area of ​​96 m2. The stand of the Rostov region is located in the central part of the exhibition pavilion in close proximity to the stand of JSC "Russian EXPORT Center". The collective exposition presents products of 25 Don food producers. Five companies took part in person, including FLOUR and cereal industry enterprises OOO "AgroVictoria" and OOO PCF "Mayak"; confectionery manufacturers JSC Azov Bread and OOO Sladoff, as well as the company producing crispbread OOO DOCTOR Grain.
Today, as part of the opening of the agroforum, a working meeting was held at the Rostov Region stand between Deputy Governor - Minister of Agriculture and Food Konstantin Rachalovsky and members of the Don delegation with the Trade Representative of the Russian Federation in the Arab Republic of Egypt Alexey Tevanyan. With his participation, a round table was held on issues of expanding the supply of agricultural products from the Rostov Region to Egypt. The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Agrarian Issues, Deputy Nikolay Goncharov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Regional Development Corporation of the Rostov Region Viktor Goncharov, other members of the Don delegation and leading organizations of Egypt interested in importing products from Rostov manufacturers.
During the presentation, Konstantin Rachalovsky spoke in detail about the investment and agro-industrial potential of the Don region.
"The Rostov Region is not only one of the leaders in agro-industrial production in RUSSIA, but also an export-oriented region and ranks first in the country in terms of export of agricultural products," emphasized the Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region for the Agro-Industrial Complex. "According to preliminary data, since the beginning of the year, the volume of exports from the Rostov Region has amounted to almost 29 million tons, which is 77% more than in the 11 months of last year."
According to the Rostov Ministry of Agriculture, exportsAgricultural products from the Rostov region are exported to 16 out of 62 African countries. Among them: Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia, Kenya, Tanzania, Sudan, Uganda, Morocco, South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Rwanda, Congo, Malawi, Benin. At the same time, the main volume of exports to African countries comes from Egypt. Its share in value terms is 64%.
In general, the volume of exports of Don agricultural products to African countries in 2023 amounted to 7.7 million tons, which is 85.6% more than for the same period in 2022. The share of African countries in the total volume of agricultural exports from the Rostov region is 26.5% in value terms. The basis of Don agricultural exports to African countries is wheat and meslin, corn, sunflower oil , legumes. Recently, the export of mineral water has begun.
"Rostov Region produces all the main types of food, and we are interested in increasing export volumes to Egypt and other countries on the continent. First of all, these are products of the food and processing industry - vegetable oil, flour , cereals, confectionery," summed up Konstantin Rachalovsky.
For their part, representatives of the Arab Republic of Egypt expressed their readiness to cooperate with enterprises of the food and processing industry of Rostov Region.
