Nizhny Novgorod agrarians have started harvesting feed for farm animals

Nizhny Novgorod agrarians have begun to prepare feed for farm animals. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Resources of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Nikolai Denisov.
“Agricultural producers of the region have started forage harvesting. This is a crucial period for livestock farms, since the full nutrition of animals and, as a result, their productivity depends on the availability of high-quality feed,” Nikolay Denisov noted.
Forage harvesting began in the farms of Lyskovsky, Dalnekonstantinovsky, Ardatovsky, Gorodetsky, Bogorodsky, Kstovsky, Buturlinsky, Voznesensky, Pochinkovsky, Tonshaevsky districts of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
“To date, forage grasses have been mowed on an area of ​​two thousand hectares, while eight thousand tons of haylage have been harvested. To ensure the full-fledged feeding of animals per one conditional head, on average, it is necessary to stock at least 25 centners of feed units of coarse and succulent feed,” Nikolay Denisov said.
As part of the forage harvesting campaign in 2022, farmers plan to harvest: 686 thousand tons of silage, 632.4 thousand tons of haylage and 186 thousand tons of hay.
As a reminder, about 5 billion rubles of subsidies have been allocated to support agricultural enterprises and the development of rural areas of the Nizhny Novgorod region this year, of which more than 2 billion rubles have already been distributed to agricultural producers. The funds were used to carry out spring field work; melioration; reimbursement of part of the costs associated with the acquisition of machinery and equipment; to support producers of milk and vegetables, support personnel and other areas.
