Agricultural producers of the Lipetsk region, while the soil for the sowing campaign has not yet warmed up enough, are engaged in top dressing of winter crops and perennial grasses.
Work is underway in seven districts, the regional agriculture department said.
Fertilizers were applied on 11.5 thousand hectares of winter crops and 1.5 thousand hectares of perennial grasses. Despite all the vagaries of nature, winter crops in the region overwintered well. However, prolonged autumn rains have significantly reduced the nitrogen content in the soil, so winter crops urgently need top dressing. In total, 255 thousand hectares of winter crops and 17 thousand hectares of perennial grasses need to be taken care of, the department of agriculture specified.
“The most important period for farmers is coming. But I am sure that our farmers will not let you down and will cope with all the difficulties. They always show decent results. The Lipetsk region is among the best in the country in many aspects of the agro-industrial complex,” emphasized the Governor of the region Igor Artamonov.
