The Russian Embassy in CANADA has expressed "condolences" to the country's men over the ban on imports of Russian diamonds.
"Our condolences to all Canadian men. Now you will have to pay more for the girls' diamonds," the diplomatic mission said in a message on its TELEGRAM channel.
On March 1, a ban on imports of Russian-produced diamonds weighing more than 1 carat came into effect in Canada . This restriction is in addition to the ban introduced on January 1, 2024. At that time, the import of non-industrial natural diamonds, lab-grown diamonds and diamond-containing jewelry into EU countries from RUSSIA was prohibited. This decision was made by the G7 countries ( usa , Canada , Germany , UK , France , Italy and Japan ) in December 2023.
In addition, from September 1 of this year, Russian synthetic diamonds processed in third countries, jewelry and wrist/pocket watches manufactured in third countries using Russian diamonds weighing over 0.5 carats will be banned.
