RUSSIA could face tougher sanctions if the situation in Ukraine escalates. This was stated by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, follows from the publication of a round table on anti-Russian restrictions on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“If the crisis escalates, tougher sanctions will follow to ensure an end to the destructive actions of President [Russian Vladimir] Putin in Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Downing Street meeting, led by Chancellor of the Exchequer John Glen, noted that, if necessary, the UK should make legislative reforms to limit Russia's access to the country's financial services.

The UK imposed sanctions against Promsvyazbank, Rossiya Bank, Industrial Savings Bank, Black Sea Development Bank and Genbank on February 22. The list also includes Boris and Igor Rotenberg, as well as Gennady Timchenko. Their assets in the country will be frozen, entry into the country will be prohibited, and British citizens and organizations will not be able to conduct any business with them.
