Erdogan aide sees backfire from US sanctions on S-400s

Ibrahim Kalyn

US pressure on Turkey over the acquisition of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems from RUSSIA will backfire and push Turkey in “other directions.” This was stated by the press secretary of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ibrahim Kalin, in an interview with BLOOMBERG.

“If another country comes to us with a maximalist position and says, “either it will be our way or not,” then this attitude pushes us in other directions,” he stressed.

According to Erdogan, differences with the United States on this issue can be resolved through constructive dialogue, but American politicians should understand how serious this issue is for Ankara. “Turkey's decision on the S-400 was not taken overnight,” he concluded.
