Polish trucks will be allowed to travel through the territory of the Kaliningrad region, HEAD of the region Anton Alikhanov said in his TELEGRAM channel. The authorities of the region have worked out this issue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport.
“Polish carriers make up 15-18% of foreign carriers that deliver goods to the Kaliningrad region. Taking into account our geography, the ban on the work of Polish transport companies will not be extended to the region,” he wrote.
The Kaliningrad region is a semi-exclave of Russia, as well as the westernmost region of the country. it borders Poland in the south and Lithuania in the north and east. In the west, the region is washed by the Baltic Sea and its bays - Curonian and Kaliningrad (Vistula).
On May 23, the deputies of the State Duma unanimously supported the need to introduce a ban on the passage through the territory of Russia for Polish trucks. The legislators began to prepare an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers after such an initiative was made by the speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
According to the politician, these measures will harm the citizens of Poland by about €8.5 billion, received at the expense of Russia. He said that 20 thousand drivers will be fired, and about 2 thousand transport companies will go bankrupt. “The leadership of Poland must answer for the demolition of monuments to our soldiers and officers, for the Russophobic policy,” the State Duma speaker added.
Volodin's statement came a few weeks after police officers and representatives of the mayor's office entered the school grounds at the Russian embassy in Warsaw. They demanded that the employees leave the educational institution before the evening. The requirement has been met. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the actions of the Polish authorities a seizure. In May, the school resumed work in new premises.
