After the meeting of the National Security Council of Bulgaria, all its participants were forced to go into self-isolation due to the fact that the test for covid-19 of Parliament Speaker Nikola Minchev gave a positive result, reports REUTERS.

Prime Minister Kirill Petkov, President Rumen Radev, as well as the ministers of internal affairs, defense and finance who were present at the meeting, as well as high-ranking representatives of the main political parties, switched to remote work.

The meeting of the Council was devoted to the position of Bulgaria on the accession to the European Union of North Macedonia. Petkov planned to visit this country on January 18, but now the trip can be rescheduled. The press service of the government told the agency that "the prime minister will be in quarantine, like the rest."

Petkov will continue to work remotely, and Deputy Prime Minister Kalina Konstantinova will take over his duties that require personal presence.

On Tuesday, January 11, in Bulgaria with a population of 7 million people, 6761 new cases of COVID-19 were registered, more than 800 people were hospitalized. Officials and politicians who attended Monday's meeting may remain in quarantine for up to seven days after the Ministry of HEALTH changed the self-isolation rules that came into effect on January 11.
