Russia reports less than 800 deaths from COVID for third day in a row

Most deaths from coronavirus per day were recorded in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Krasnodar Territory. The number of people infected with coronavirus per day increased by 19.2 thousand people

Over the past day in Russia, 797 people have died from coronavirus, the operational headquarters said.

Daily deaths from COVID-19 remain below 800 for the third day in a row. The figure fell after it broke a record: 820 people died on August 26.

The largest number of deaths from coronavirus per day was recorded in Moscow - 52. During the day, 451 people were hospitalized in the capital, another 302 patients are connected to artificial lung ventilation devices.

Daily mortality from COVID-19 was also high in the following regions:

Petersburg - 38 deaths; Krasnodar Territory - 35; Sverdlovsk region - 32; Perm and Krasnoyarsk Territories - 29 each; Rostov region - 28.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Russia has reached 181.6 thousand, the operational headquarters said. In these cases, coronavirus has become the main cause of death. According to Rosstat, which takes into account other cases of deaths among those infected, including when COVID-19 led to fatal complications of another disease, 367.5 thousand people have died in the country since the beginning of the pandemic.

The number of people infected per day was 19.2 thousand people. The largest increase is traditionally in Moscow (1444 people), St. Petersburg (1318) and the Moscow region (914). The total number of cases of COVID-19 infection since the beginning of the pandemic in Russia has reached 6.8 million.
