The Ministry of Health has adjusted recommendations for the treatment of COVID-19

The Ministry of HEALTH has updated recommendations for doctors on the treatment and prevention of CORONAVIRUS infection, the new version has been sent to all medical institutions, the department said in a statement.

The adjusted guidelines, in particular, included vaccination  drugs: EpiVacCorona and Gam-Covid-Vac for adults, Konvasel, Salnavak and AURORA-CoV for people aged 18 to 60 years , as well as “Gam-COVID-Vac-M” for teenagers from 12 to 17 years old. The children's vaccine "Gam-COVID-Vac-D" is intended for children aged six to 11 years.

On an outpatient basis, the Ministry of Health recommended treating coronavirus infection using several regimens, depending on the symptoms, risks of complications and the patient’s condition. The first includes the drugs Favipiravir and Paracetamol, as well as products containing interferon alpha-2b, the second is distinguished by the presence of Molnupiravir instead of Favipiravir.

Other regimens use Umifenovir (formerly called Arbidol), Ritonavir and other antiviral drugs. Antibacterial therapy lasts from three to seven days and is prescribed only if there are convincing signs of a bacterial infection.

Antibacterial therapy is carried out using antibiotics , in particular Amoxicillin.

He noted that the original Sputnik variant protected against covid-19 for the first two years of the pandemic, but starting in mid-summer 2022, when variants of the Omicron strain emerged, the vaccine's effectiveness dropped dramatically. Since January 2023, Sputnik V has ceased to be protected “just completely.”

According to the Russian operational headquarters, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 23 million cases of infection have been identified in RUSSIA, and more than 400 thousand people have died. During the week from October 16 to October 22, almost 20 thousand cases of COVID-19 were detected in Russia, 50 people died. Most people were hospitalized in Moscow and St. Petersburg .
