Gunzburg called the condition for creating a vaccine against COVID for five to ten years

The creation of a coronavirus vaccine that can be done every five to ten years depends on which strain of COVID-19 is to be fought. This was stated by the director of the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei Alexander Gintsburg, RIA Novosti reports.

“It all depends on which version of the virus we encounter, that evolution will give us a new one in terms of, respectively, those pathogens with which we will have to create a vaccine,” Gunzburg said.

He hoped that the duration of the Sputnik V vaccine against Wuhan and subsequent variants of COVID-19 would be longer than one or two years, since, according to him, memory cells persist for a very long time. “But the strain has changed in such a way that it has escaped the attack that antibodies that are synthesized by memory cells can organize. Therefore, this vaccine now has to be administered every six months, ”the scientist said.

Gunzburg called the duration of the nasal vaccine against COVID-19 Society

At the end of October, Gunzburg announced that the nasal vaccine against coronavirus would need to be vaccinated no more than once every six months. However, he noted that the duration of protection against such a vaccine still needs to be studied.
