France and Britain began to demand a test for COVID from arriving from Chinain China and fears of a new outbreak of infection

Airline passengers arriving in France, Spain and the UK from China will be required to test negative for COVID-19, Bloomberg reported, citing a statement from European regulators.

According to the agency, the EU countries are afraid of the decision of the Chinese authorities to weaken the policy of "zero tolerance" for the coronavirus, due to which the country is experiencing a sharp surge in infections. Bloomberg sources clarified that French and British authorities will also conduct random PCR tests for arrivals from China.

At the same time, according to the agency, other European countries do not yet plan to introduce such restrictions.

On December 28, the Chinese authorities issued a notice to ease the restrictive measures imposed during the pandemic. Persons entering China do not need to go into quarantine from January 8 if they test negative for the coronavirus. The test must be taken 48 hours prior to arrival.

Prior to this, the Chinese authorities adhered to a policy of “zero tolerance” for the coronavirus. The country maintained strict restrictions and quarantine, which could cover entire cities. Against this background, protests began in some cities of China, and the authorities were forced to ease restrictive measures.
