On November 20-21, numerous protests took place in major European cities in connection with the tightening of measures to combat the coronavirus, provoked by a new wave of the pandemic. Tens of thousands of people took part in them, in some places the rallies turned into riots and clashes with the police.

Austria - hard lockdown

From November 22, a strict 20-day general lockdown begins to operate in the country, including for those who have been vaccinated and recovered from the coronavirus. According to Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg, for these categories of Austrians, restrictive measures will be lifted no later than December 13, and the so-called 2G rule (geimpft und genesen - vaccinated and recovered. -) will come into force in the country, according to which they are allowed access to public places via QR - codes. At the same time, 10 days after the introduction of the lockdown, the Austrian government plans to sum up interim results, and if the measure demonstrates its effectiveness, its cancellation is not ruled out. In the meantime, Austrians can only leave the house for urgent purchases, for work and for outdoor sports. Most public places are closed.
