Life expectancy at birth in 2020 decreased in all Russian regions, except for Sevastopol, follows from data published by Rosstat. The most significant losses in life expectancy were recorded in the Chechen Republic (by 3.8 years, or 5%), the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (by 2.8 years, or 3.8%), the Lipetsk Region (by 2.8 years, or 3.8%). .7%), the Republic of Dagestan (by 2.7 years, or 3.4%).
In Sevastopol, the statistical growth of the indicator by 0.05 years correlates with an increase in the city's population by 14% in 2020 after recalculation associated with the one-time registration of several tens of thousands of residents by migration services (RBC wrote about this in April). The recalculation of the population could lead to errors in the calculation of life expectancy, suggested Irina Kalabikhina, head of the Department of Population at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University.
According to the results of 2020, the highest life expectancy at birth remained in Ingushetia (almost 81.5 years), Dagestan (76.4 years) and Moscow (76.2 years), follows from Rosstat data.
In the country as a whole, life expectancy in 2020 decreased by 1.8 years, to 71.54 years (all-Russian data were previously announced by the Ministry of Health in April). The rate fell for the first time since 2003. For both women and men, it fell equally - by about 1.75 years. The gap in life expectancy between women and men in Russia - 76.4 and 66.5 years respectively - remains one of the highest in the world.
