
July 19, Mogilev. In the Mogilev region for 6 months, the death of people in fires has decreased by almost 20%. This was stated by the HEAD of the Mogilev regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Sergei Demidov during the collegium of the regional department, which summed up the performance for the first half of the year, BelTA informs.
“In the first half of the year, 390 fires occurred in the region, which is 6.7% less than in the same period in 2021,” Sergey Demidov noted. “The death toll in fires decreased by 19%: 48 people in 2022 against 59 in No deaths were registered in 2021. The dominant cause of death is careless handling of fire: 41 people (38%) died, 29 of them from smoking. drunkenness."For the first half of 2022, no accidents and man-made emergencies were registered in the region, which had a significant impact on the functioning of economic facilities and the livelihoods of the population. Since the beginning of the year, two natural emergencies have been recorded, as a result of which 5 people were injured, including one child.
The head of the department emphasized that in the work of prevention subjects, the main focus is on ensuring the safety of the elderly, families raising children, as well as conducting joint checks with police officers of the places of residence of persons on preventive records, leading an asocial lifestyle.
The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations has developed and is implementing a "Complex of measures in the Mogilev region aimed at preventing the death of people on the water." In cooperation with OSVOD representatives, preventive measures were organized with the population, information work in the media.
The collegium was held on the basis of the Belynichi district department for emergency situations. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister for Emergency Situations Anatoly Dolgolevets, the leadership of the department, the heads of the regional emergency departments.
