May 17, Minsk . The Ministry of Health approved the Instructions on the procedure for conducting X-ray computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in healthcare organizations. The corresponding resolution dated April 21, 2023 No. 58 was officially published on, BelTA informs.

The document defines the procedure for organizing and providing medical care through CT and MRI in healthcare organizations. So, to undergo a tomography, it is necessary to have a referral, which additionally indicates information about active implantable medical devices, if the patient has any. If the patient is scheduled to undergo invasive procedures for the administration of drugs, including contrast agents, the presence or absence of contraindications to the study should be reflected in the referral .

The instructions also define indications for CT or MRI. For example, indications for brain CT are aneurysms and vascular malformations, ataxia, inflammatory and infectious processes in the substance of the brain and their complications, hydrocephalus, as well as impaired mental status, consciousness, acute disorders of cerebral circulation, assessment of the state after surgical interventions, primary tumors and metastases, convulsions, traumatic injuries of the bones of the skull, brain, chronic neurological deficit, cerebrovascular disease .

Among the main indications for brain MRI are vasculitis, demyelinating disease, stroke and cerebrovascular disease, cortical dysplasia and migration disorders, examination for epilepsy, metabolic (toxic-metabolic) diseases (Wilson's disease, alcoholic, hepatic encephalopathy, osmotic demyelination syndrome, carbon monoxide poisoning). gas, methanol, narcotic substances, etc.), as well as impaired consciousness after a traumatic brain injury, not explained by CT data (diffuse axonal damage), cranial nerve pathology, primary tumors and metastases, posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), convulsions, encephalitis.

In addition, the document contains a form for taking into account the radiation exposure of a patient who underwent CT, the coefficients for converting the total DLP into the effective dose of radiation to the patient, the basic techniques for scanning CT and MRI, and a form for describing the studies.
