The Ministry of Taxes and Duties explained how Belarus is preventing illegal trade in alcohol and vapes

June 12, MINSK . Deputy Minister for Taxes and Duties Vladimir Mukvich spoke at a briefing about how Belarus suppresses illegal trade in ALCOHOL and vapes, BELTA reports.

One of the areas of work of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties is control over the circulation of alcohol, tobacco products, as well as electronic smoking systems and liquids for them. "There are positive results. In Minsk, together with the internal affairs agencies, the circulation of a large batch of electronic smoking systems and liquids for them without documents confirming the purchase was stopped. That is, they were imported to Belarus without paying value added tax. In addition, they were not marked with unified control marks. The revenue from their sale, hidden from taxation, amounted to more than Br8 million. The volumes are impressive," said Vladimir Mukvich.

As for alcoholic products, tax authorities, in cooperation with law enforcement officers, identified a violation in the Brest region. "A mini-factory for the production of counterfeit alcoholic beverages has been discovered. Resourceful people purchased empty containers, ordered the appropriate packaging materials, lids with a dispenser, imported ethyl alcohol from RUSSIA in polyethylene canisters. And then they produced counterfeit alcoholic products and sold them. it seems that there is social advertising about the dangers of drinking counterfeit alcoholic products, and there were poisonings. But, nevertheless, as we see, there is still demand for suchalcohol is present, so we continue to carry out control measures together with law enforcement agencies to identify and suppress such activities,” the deputy minister noted.
