The final decision on how to respond to the new US anti-Russian sanctions will be made by Russian President Vladimir Putin . This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov, RBC correspondent reports.

“The principle of reciprocity in such matters has not been canceled. Once again I will say that everything will depend on the decision that the head of state makes, ”he stressed, answering the question whether Moscow intends to respond to Washington on new restrictive measures.

The day before , US President Joe Biden imposed new sanctions against Russia. US banks are prohibited from buying bonds issued by the Central Bank of Russia, the Ministry of Finance and the National Wealth Fund (NWF) after June 14, 2021.

According to Peskov, the new US sanctions will not affect the stability of the macroeconomic situation in Russia, thanks to the successful actions of the Central Bank. The Bank of Russia declared its readiness, if necessary, to use the available instruments to maintain financial stability.
