
The authorities expect the situation in the labor market to recover to pre-crisis levels by the end of 2021. This was stated by Assistant to the President of RUSSIA Maxim Oreshkin, speaking at the New Knowledge marathon.
Oreshkin recalled that in January, Vladimir Putin instructed the government and other authorities to restore the labor market to 2019 levels by the end of this year.
“Thanks to active measures, active demand support last year, unemployment has already decreased from 6.4 to 5.4%, a million jobs in the Russian economy have been restored. We expect that by the end of the year there will be a full recovery, and the labor market will return to the level where it was before the crisis,” the assistant to the HEAD of state said.

Oreshkin noted that the sharp rise in unemployment has become the main problem of the CORONAVIRUS crisis. “Unemployment has grown in all countries of the world, it has grown in Russia as well. Its peak was in the spring of last year - 6.4%, a long-term maximum, ”he added.
