Andrea Mesa of Mexico wins Miss Universe title

The winner of the international beauty contest "Miss Universe" in 2021 was the 26-year-old participant from Mexico, Andrea Mesa, the organizers of the contest announced.

"The new Miss Universe is [a contestant from] Mexico," the contest's Twitter page reads.

Andrea Mesa is a make-up artist and model who is an activist and dedicated to combating gender-based violence. “Mexico, this is all for you,” Andrea Mesa commented on her victory.

The 69th Miss Universe pageant this year was held in Florida ( USA ) with the necessary security measures due to COVID-19 . Representatives of India, Brazil, Peru and the Dominican Republic also participated in the final of the competition.

In 2019, the winner of Miss Universe was 26-year-old Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa. Representatives from Mexico and Puerto Rico also fought for the title in the final.
