The research company Ipsos provided RBC with data on which brand of beer is most often bought by beer consumers in large cities of Russia. The Top 10 includes the products of three major beer producers — AB InBev Efes, Carlsberg and Heineken (together they occupy, according to the Center for Research on Federal and Regional ALCOHOL Markets, two-thirds of the entire Russian market). The only exception is the Zhiguli Barnoye brand of the Moscow Brewing Company, which is in ninth place.
Two of the largest beer producers this week announced their withdrawal from Russia. The first to do this on March 28 was the Dutch concern Heineken, who announced that he intended to transfer his business to a new owner. Who it will be, the company did not specify, but stressed that it would not profit from the transfer of ownership. The concern expects to lose about €400 million. On the same day, the Danish Carlsberg, the owner of the Baltika brewing company, issued a similar message.
The flagship brands of these brewers, according to Ipsos, are among the three most popular among Russian consumers. These stamps will be discontinued. The corresponding statements were made by their owners in early March.
