Pentagon chief infected with coronavirus

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has tested positive for the coronavirus, according to a statement released by the Pentagon press service.

“This morning I tested positive for COVID-19 . I have mild symptoms and will be quarantined at home for the next five days,” Austin said.

The head of the Pentagon noted that he last contacted US President Joe Biden on July 29.

Austin has been revaccinated against COVID twice and contracted the infection at least as many times. He first contracted the coronavirus in January. Then, according to the minister himself, he also experienced mild symptoms. Austin retained his powers as head of the Pentagon and worked from home during a five-day quarantine.

According to Johns Hopkins University, during the entire period of the pandemic in the United States, more than 92 million people became infected with coronavirus, about 1 million people died in the country.
