A drunk driver without a license tried to evade traffic police in a stolen car: two criminal cases have been opened.

The Bobruisk resident is facing two criminal charges, and three administrative protocols have been filed, BelTA learned from the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate.

The owner of the "borrowed" Mercedes Sprinter immediately reported the theft to the Bobruisk City Executive Committee Department of Internal Affairs. The complainant believed the car was stolen by an acquaintance who appeared to be intoxicated. Traffic police were dispatched to pursue the thief and quickly located the vehicle traveling along Shevchenko Street. The driver ignored repeated requests from traffic police to stop, and a pursuit ensued.

Soon, inspectors detained the offender. He was a 40-year-old Bobruisk resident without a driver's license who refused to undergo the required medical examination. Traffic police discovered that the man had previously been convicted of drunk driving and driving without a license within the past year. Three administrative reports were filed against the car thief, and two criminal cases were opened.

The State Traffic Inspectorate urges people to refrain from driving under the influence of ALCOHOL or without a license under any circumstances.
