November 2, Brest. The Brest Regional COURT has pronounced a verdict in a criminal case of murder with extreme cruelty, BelTA learned from the press service of the court.

The defendant in the criminal case was a 50-year-old resident of MINSK who had no previous convictions. The crime was committed in Baranavichy on April 13-14, 2021. The man was visiting a 46-year-old woman. Being in a state of alcoholic intoxication , during a sudden quarrel, he inflicted numerous blows on the woman's HEAD, torso and other parts of the body (more than 60 blows). The victim died from mechanical asphyxia. Later, parts of a dismembered female body were found in dumpsters.

The court found the Minsker guilty under clause 6, part 2, article 139 (intentional unlawful deprivation of the life of another person (murder), with special cruelty) of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison to be served in a penal colony under a reinforced regime. In favor of the brother of the murdered woman, Br749.9 was recovered from the accused in respect of compensation for property damage and Br30 thousand in material compensation for moral damage.

The verdict has not entered into force and can be appealed and protested in the prescribed manner.
