Today Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin said that, according to the results of the first half of the year, 1.6 million tourists visited the capital of the republic.

The occupancy of hotels, according to the director of the Kazan Tourism Development Committee Daria Sannikova, was 95%. “Despite all the changes taking place in the world, our industry is actively functioning due to the high interest in our city both among guests and tourists from Russia and from other countries,” she said today during a business Monday at the Kazan City Hall.

According to Alexandra Yushutina, executive director of the Kazan and Tatarstan Hotel Association, hotel occupancy in the summer season is “good”.

“The occupancy rate is good, especially since the May holidays. The summer season is going very well. In general, in all hotels the situation is different. Some tourists now choose hotels a little cheaper than before, but stay for a longer period. In hotels of the 2-3-star segment, if guests used to come for 2-3 days, now they can stay for up to 5-7 days,” she said.

According to the results of 2021, over 3 million tourists visited Kazan. A year earlier, 1.7 million people visited the city due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, the tourist flow to Kazan amounted to 3.5 million guests.
