The Estonian government has proposed introducing a full trade embargo against RUSSIA as part of the new, 12th package of EU sanctions, the HEAD of the Estonian Foreign Ministry Margus Tsahkna said on the social network X (the new name of Twitter).
“Today the Estonian government supported proposals for the 12th package of EU sanctions with an emphasis on a full trade embargo against Russia,” the minister wrote.
“The proposal also includes blocking the transit of goods that are already subject to sanctions,” Tsahkna clarified. “Business with Russia fuels its war machine,” he added.
According to BLOOMBERG , the European Union may announce a new package of sanctions against Russia in the first half of October or during the EU- US summit , the date of which has not yet been set. Several EU countries, including Poland and the Baltic states, are planning to push ahead with restrictions on Russia's nuclear industry, the agency said.
On September 8, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia said that the country would soon adopt a bill that would allow the confiscation of Russian assets. This will be the first such law in the EU.
Previously, the Kremlin warned that all cases of blocking, seizure or retention of state or private property abroad will be considered illegal acts and will lead to further legal proceedings.
