It became known when teenagers will be vaccinated against COVID in St. Petersburg

In January 2022, St. Petersburg expects the delivery of the Sputnik M vaccine against covid-19 for adolescents aged 12-17. This was reported to journalists by Yana Panyutina, HEAD of the department for organizing medical care for mothers and children of the city HEALTH committee.

“We expect a vaccine in January after the holidays. We, taking into account the “cold chain” (a certain temperature regime during storage and transportation of the drug -) of this vaccine, will open vaccination points in children's clinics, ”added Panyutina.

According to her, vaccination of teenagers will be voluntary. it should be noted that according to the Federal Law “On Immunoprophylaxis of Infectious Diseases”, citizens from the age of 15 have the right to independently make a decision on vaccination; for children under this age, the decision to vaccinate or not be vaccinated is made by the parents.

According to Susanna Kharit, chief freelance specialist in immunoprophylaxis of the St. Petersburg Health Committee, vaccination against CORONAVIRUS is important for children who have a hard time with the infection and can die from it. First of all, in her opinion, children from the “risk group” should be vaccinated against COVID-19. “Such children include all children with chronic whitening and socially active teenagers who can be sources of infection in the family,” she said. Recall that since April 2020, five children have died from coronavirus at the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University. In addition, according to Yana Panyutina, two children died in the Filatov hospital. All these children had severe pathologies.

The Sputnik M vaccine for adolescents aged 12-17 was registered by the Russian Ministry of Health on November 24. Clinical trials of the drug have been conducted since July 2021 on the basis of twelve children's medical institutions in Moscow, the third phase of trials was completed in November. According to the head of the Center Gamaleya (vaccine developer) Alexander Gintsburg, during the study, experts noticed only one side effect from Sputnik M in children - fever.
