15 Argentine MEAT producers have been banned from exports after government officials discovered large shipments of meat destined for EXPORT that were not officially registered.
In this case, at least 40 tons of beef shipments from one of the world's most famous beef producers are being questioned, REUTERS reports. The country's agriculture ministry said in a statement that they were able to identify several meat exports that involved tax evasion.
The report does not include names of companies involved or export destinations. Public prosecutors will start preparing formal complaints shortly after the completion of the checks, the ministry said in a statement.
Argentina is a major global exporter of beef and one of the main suppliers to the Chinese market. Argentina exported more than 850,000 tons of beef to CHINA last year, accounting for almost 75% of total beef exports. The numbers are similar to those of 2019, when Argentina sent more than 70% of its beef exports to the Chinese market. The total export of Argentine beef to China in 2019 was 870,000 tons.
