Former Ambassador of Belarus told what is interesting about Oman and what projects the countries can implement together

"We have had very good, friendly relations with Oman for a long time. They are based, first of all, on the very friendly personal relations between ALEXANDER LUKASHENKO and former Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said. Our trade cooperation may not be developing so rapidly, although we have done a lot in recent years," Sergei Rachkov noted. "There have always been and still are prospects. We have done some things, but there is still more to do."

He recalled that there was a period in the history of Belarusian-Omani relations when even the infrastructure of diplomatic relations was poorly developed. Over time, the Honorary Consulate of Belarus was opened in Oman, and the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Cairo took Muscat under its wing. "The Honorary Consul worked so well that the Sultan of Oman appointed him minister," the MP said.
"In recent years, we have managed to bring our business people closer together and create a Business Cooperation Council. Humanitarian ties are also developing. Omanis and Belarusians are similar mentally: they are very friendly, pleasant people. We have managed to create conditions for the development of cultural ties. During his visit to Muscat, Alexander Lukashenko visited the National Museum of Oman: so, as soon as this museum opened, the first international exhibition there was an exposition of the Republic of Belarus. This emphasized the good relations that are developing between Belarus and Oman," the parliamentarian said.

What is interesting about Oman for Belarus today? Sergei Rachkov noted the capital intensity of the Omani market. "Oman imports a lot: passenger transport, food products . The Omani market is not simple, the buyer there is very demanding, because businessmen interact primarily with neighboring countries. But we have increased our participation in industrial and agricultural exhibitions, promoting our products. We have prospects primarily in the food industry. Oman needs dry MILK , cream, baby food," the deputy stated.

"I think that a promising topic is also the joint production of electric transport for Oman and neighboring markets in Asia and Africa," added Sergey Rachkov.
