Topic news What could be the causes of male infertility? In the project "In the topic. Health" Alexander Batsenko, urologist-andrologist, told . -
Factor number one, which we can highlight with a red line, is that over the past 10 years, sperm quality has fallen by 40%. That is, a modern guy of 20-30 years old has less chance of becoming a father, if we compare him with a man of 50-60 years old.

Evolutionarily, a man can be a father until his last day. Especially if he has good HEALTH and led a healthy lifestyle in his younger years: did not smoke, did not abuse ALCOHOL, played sports and was, roughly speaking, rational in his hobbies. The consequences are problems of lifestyle or civilization - for example, a large amount of plastic, SUGAR, little physical activity and a lot of stress. Perhaps unnecessary stress, induced by the fact that we used to live quite closed lives, interested in our work, studies and so on, and today we sometimes worry about things that we do not need to worry about. All this has an effect.

But there are also medical issues. The first is sexually transmitted infections. No matter how much this problem is discussed, no matter how much they warn and say that there is no such thing as "safe sex", any contact is considered potentially infectious, we forget that young people still easily "communicate", and this leads to them getting such infections. So that you understand, the latest statistics on what is happening in Europe now: Poland and the Czech Republic have become leaders in sexually transmitted diseases. And these are civilized countries where everyone understands about means of protection, but there is obvious disgraceful behavior and an incorrect, uncritical assessment of the situation, which can end sadly - venereal diseases. And today there are about 100 of them, 20 of which are widespread. There are those that are poorly treated, and those that are not cured at all.

The second is prostate diseases. Men underestimate, again, the nuances of lifestyle. Hypothermia in the wrong clothes. Overexposure of the bladder, when a man is forced to endure for a long time and does not understand that urinary retention can cause reflux.

Moments associated with alcohol abuse. Today we know that at least three months before conceiving a child, a man should stop drinking any alcohol. This is the period during which a good, correct sperm matures.
Underestimation of nicotine. The fashion for vapes and other means of poisoning your young body. Nicotine is now packaged in a modern device, and young people think that it is fashionable. In fact, it is nicotine, plastic, and even heated. There are already studies, roughly speaking, confirmed, sufficiently evidence, which testify to the harm of nicotine as such on the quality of sperm. And also - that it reduces the possibility of having a normal child. And this is not because we, doctors, are specifically fighting only nicotine, cigarettes. No, this is the number one problem, because the birth rate issue is actually important in each individual country. In ours, including.

The next factor that affects the ability to conceive and give birth to a healthy child is genetic congenital diseases.

And the last factor that should not be forgotten. There is such a problem with varicocele, when the veins of the testicle expand, which leads to an increase in body temperature. As a result, the production of antisperm antibodies increases, which inhibits spermatogenesis. In the future, this can disrupt the quality, activity, motility of sperm, which can affect the ability to be a father.
