For the period from 21 to 27 August 2021, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) received reports of the registration of 1,399 new foci of especially dangerous animal diseases in 16 countries of the world this year. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

African swine fever outbreaks have been identified in the Dominican Republic (9), Hungary (5), Germany (22), Latvia (11), Poland (1019), Romania (103) and South Africa (6).

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been reported in Benin (1), Vietnam (9), Finland (7), Estonia (1) and South Africa (10). The disease caused by viruses of the H5, H5N1, H5N6 and H5N8 subtypes has been noted in farm birds and wild birds. Low pathogenic avian influenza has been identified in South Africa (1).

On the territory of Spain (1) a focus of bovine spongiform encephalopathy was registered. In Cambodia (2) and Thailand (189), outbreaks of nodular skin disease continue. In South Africa (1) a focus of foot-and-mouth disease caused by the SAT-2 serotype virus was detected. On the territory of Norway (1) - the focus of tularemia.

The UK Veterinary Services (1) have registered a COVID-19 infection in a dog.
