Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked US President Donald Trump for imposing sanctions on the International Criminal COURT (ICC). The Israeli prime minister's office posted a message of gratitude on its FACEBOOK page.

"Thank you, President Trump, for your bold executive order on the ICC. it will protect America and Israel from an anti-American, anti-Semitic, corrupt court that has no jurisdiction or basis to prosecute," Netanyahu's office quoted him as saying.

In November 2024 , the court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The judges found that both “intentionally and knowingly” deprived civilians in the Gaza Strip of basic necessities, including food, water, medicine , fuel, and electricity, without military necessity, resulting in civilian deaths.

On February 7, 2025, Trump signed an executive order imposing financial sanctions on the ICC for investigations into the United States and its allies, including Israel.

The sanctions will threaten the ICC's access to banking and payment systems, IT infrastructure, and will prevent US-based companies from doing business with the court or conducting court transactions.
