Poland proposes new EU sanctions against Russia

The Polish Institute of International Relations (PISM), a research organization established by the Polish Parliament, has proposed that the European Union introduce new sanctions against RUSSIA. This is stated in the analytical bulletin of the organization.

“Russia’s aggressive behavior towards the EU countries and their neighbors means that the EU must develop response options in case of further hostile actions from the Russian authorities,” the report said.

PISM believes that the financial sanctions of the European Union against the banking and energy sectors could most affect Russia.

“They will be aimed at weakening the position of Russian state-owned companies in the oil and gas sector, which are a source of income for the Russian government and its associated oligarchs,” emphasizes the author of the bulletin, Elisabeth Katsa.
