Foreign Ministry urged Lithuania to stop games on transit to Kaliningrad

The initiative to stop accepting payments for transit in rubles comes from the Lithuanian authorities, and not from Siauliai Bank, Ryabokon believes. In the Kaliningrad region allowed

Moscow calls on Vilnius to stop playing games on the issue of transit to Kaliningrad and behave "like an adult," Sergey Ryabokon, Russian Charge d'Affaires in Lithuania, said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel, commenting on the situation around Siauliai Bank.

He recalled that initially Lithuania stated that the responsibility for settlements for the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region through the republic lies only with banks and that the state cannot oblige them to accept payments. However, now, according to the charge d'affaires, the bank is "knocking" to the authorities of the republic, so that "they explain how it should behave."

“Therefore, of course, we urged them then and [we urge] them now to behave like an adult. Do not engage in different notions, ”Ryabokon said.

In his opinion, the key role in preventing such situations can be played by the European Union, which can influence the decisions taken by Lithuania. “So that these games do not take place, the European Union can have its say, in which Lithuania stands with outstretched hand in order to receive another tranche for its Russophobia,” said the charge d'affaires.
