The Central Bank told how many Novosibirsk used credit holidays

In March of this year, 700 residents of the Novosibirsk Region took advantage of the credit holiday regime. Another 3,000 residents of the region managed to change the terms of loans under their own programs of banks, the press service of the Siberian State Bank of Russia said.

Measures to support individuals, as well as small and medium-sized businesses, began to be applied for the first time in 2020. In March of this year, the application of these support measures was resumed.

“Most of the restructuring of retail loans took place under the banks' own programs. Credit holidays are a more targeted measure for those who are less protected from various shocks and whose incomes have been significantly affected. There are two important criteria here - a limit on the loan amount and the need to confirm a decrease in income by at least 30%, ”said Alexander Rumyantsev, head of the financial literacy department of the Siberian State Bank of Russia.

On March 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on the basis of which Russians and SMEs can receive credit holidays in 2022. 

According to the law on credit holidays, you can apply to the bank until September 30, 2022. In this case, the loan itself must be received before March 1 of this year. You can suspend or reduce payments for up to six months, and people who have already taken advantage of the coronavirus holidays in 2020 can do it again. Limits on loans for which you can take a breather, set the Government of the Russian Federation.
