Novosibirsk pig complex will be updated to solve the problem of unpleasant odors

Reconstruction of ventilation systems, technologies for keeping livestock and manure removal will be carried out at the first production stage of the Kudryashovsky pig farm (part of the Sibagro holding), which will significantly improve the situation with unpleasant odors in Novosibirsk. The work will be completed in 2024, the Minister of Agriculture of the Novosibirsk Region Yevgeny Leshchenko said at the TASS press center.

In February of this year, the environmental prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit with the Novosibirsk District COURT against the Kudryashovskoye pig-breeding complex to oblige the company to use the best technologies to reduce unpleasant odors.

“We have come to the need for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the first stage. Guests sometimes complain about the smell in the airport area, and this requires a radical revision of the maintenance technologies at the first site (which is located in Krivodanovka), and it is this project that we will start starting from 2023, ”said Leshchenko, adding that the reconstruction will be completed in 2024.

He clarified that in order to carry out the necessary work, all livestock will be transferred to another site. After the reconstruction and sanitation, the animals can be settled back, it is planned that this will happen in April-May 2024. Earlier, the Sibagro company announced that it would invest 0.5 billion rubles in the first stage of the reconstruction of the Krivodanovskaya site.

In turn, the press service of JSC Kudryashovskoye told TASS that the reconstruction is associated with high wear and tear of fixed production assets and has nothing to do with the problem of odors at Tolmachevo airport. According to the City Air air study, cited by Kudryashovskoye, from November 2021 to August 2022, the concentrations of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide at a distance of more than 4 km from the pig farm decreased to background values.

The minister added that the third stage of the Kudryashovsky pig farm is expected to reach its full production capacity by the end of 2022, which will increase production by 10,000 tons, up to 88,000 tons.
