New video on our channel: Camel farming in northern Kazakhstan. A gift from Baurzhan Ospanov – a new direction for the farm's development

In this video, we'll learn the story of how camels appeared on the Suleimenov farm and discuss camel breeding in the northern latitudes of Kazakhstan! We'll talk about the experience of raising camels from scratch, how it all began with ten camels donated by Bauyrzhan Kenesbekovich Ospanov, and how the herd has grown, having already more than doubled in size!

The camels at Suleimenov's farm are not only an exotic attraction for neighbors and drivers passing by on the Almaty-Yekaterinburg highway, who enjoy taking photos with them, but also a profitable business . They are undemanding and hardy, can go for long periods without water or food, don't get sick, and will even readily eat wheat (though care must be taken, as camels have a three-chambered stomach and lack a separate compartment, the so-called "omasum," which affects their digestive system's ability to safely process grains, particularly wheat).

Altynbek shares his experience : in the first year, three camels were lost, and what mistakes were made when accepting the young.

In the first year after moving to a new place, the camels tried to go south, as it was difficult to control them, but after their first foal they already understood where their new home was.

Unlike horses , camels are calmer and less troublesome animals . After exploring an area, camels stay in one place for a few days and then move on to another, so there's no need to worry about getting lost. However, camels are very fast animals and can cover 18 kilometers in 15 minutes!

Camels are very intelligent animals and constantly hide when they see or hear Altynbek's car, and only the Bura, an adult male, occasionally raises his head to assess potential danger and control the situation!

We're also discussing the milk of Kazakh Bactrian camels —we don't milk camels on the farm yet, but we plan to bring in specialists and start milking them. Camel milk, especially shubat, is known to be a true treasure trove of health benefits, with a fat content of over 5%!
