The chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist of the Ministry of HEALTH Yevgeny Bryun was detained, a source close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs told RBC. Earlier, channel 112 reported on his detention.

A source close to the Ministry of Internal Affairs told RBC that Bryun and Vladimir Yakushev (vice president of the Association of Narcologists and the Russian Narcological League) are suspected of fraud related to the organization of the purchase of medical diagnostic devices and consumables for the detection of drugs and ALCOHOL at inflated prices. According to investigators, companies affiliated with Yakushev's wife participated in the scheme.

The TELEGRAM channel "Caution, news" writes that the day before, employees of the department for combating economic crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs came to the Moscow Scientific and Practical Center for Narcology, which is headed by Yevgeny Bryun.

The Ministry of Health reported that Yevgeny Bryun, who was detained today, has been removed from the post of chief freelance narcologist of the department. The Ministry promises to provide the necessary assistance to the investigation. Information about the chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist on the website of the Ministry of Health has been removed.

“Yevgeny Bryun is not the main freelance specialist of the ministry today. The position of the chief freelance specialist of a psychiatrist-narcologist was previously excluded from the nomenclature of the main freelance specialists of the Ministry of Health in the process of its finalization, ”Interfax quotes a message from the department’s press service.

The Ministry of Health did not specify when exactly the position of the chief narcologist, which was held by the detainee Yevgeny Bryun, disappeared from the list of the main freelance specialists of the department. The department claims that it "was previously excluded from the nomenclature of the main freelance specialists of the Ministry of Health in the process of its completion."

The cache shows that as early as August 11, Yevgeny Bryun was listed as the chief freelance narcologist on the ministry's website. The last change to the list page at the time of publication of the article occurred on August 19 at 17:47 Moscow time - just when it became known about the detention of a specialist.

Izvestia wrote in 2020 that Brun could become a defendant in a criminal case due to an audit that the Federal Antimonopoly Service, on behalf of the Moscow prosecutor's office, is conducting against Mediatrade LLC. This was due to changes in the rules for issuing driver's licenses, according to which medical centers were required to test candidates for alcohol addiction. To do this, they needed to purchase special equipment, which, according to the publication, cost from 6 million to 8 million rubles. At the same time, the requirements for the equipment were drawn up in such a way that only devices from Mediatrade LLC were suitable for them. Until the fall of 2016, one of the founders of Mediatrade was Vladimir Yakushev, Brun's colleague in the association of narcologists.
