"Let's hope that not millions of people will be left without work, but less",- Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the President of RUSSIA, assessed the scale of the possible consequences of the withdrawal of foreign companies from Russia

The Russian authorities are taking measures to prevent a crisis in the labor market in connection with the withdrawal of a number of foreign companies from Russia and the dismissal of people who worked for them. This was stated to journalists by the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, RBC correspondent reports.

Answering a question from a journalist who suggested that millions of Russians could lose their jobs as a result of the exodus of Western companies, Peskov expressed the hope that the consequences would not be so serious.

“Still, let's hope that not millions of people will be left without work, but fewer. The government is doing this, this is a priority issue,” Peskov said.

The presidential press secretary also noted that the sanctions imposed by the West did not come as a surprise to the Russian authorities.

“I think that in the very near future we will hear from the government about the measures that are meant to be taken,” Peskov added.
