The Armenian opposition will start “large-scale actions of civil disobedience” from May 2, said Ishkhan Saghatelyan, vice speaker of parliament, deputy of the “Armenia” faction, leader of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation “Dashnaktsutyun” (ARFD), his words are quoted by the Aysor portal.

He called on citizens to go on strike and block roads.

On May 1, a rally was held in Yerevan on France Square demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. According to Saghatelyan, May 1 was "a historic day, the day of the beginning of the awakening of the Armenian people, unity, consolidation, straightening the back and achieving victory."

Protests against Pashinyan have been held in the country since mid-April. The reason for them was the words of the prime minister about the need to "lower the bar of expectations" on the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, which the opposition regarded as the readiness of the authorities to recognize the region as part of Azerbaijan. Pashinyan denied accusations of intending to "surrender" Karabakh.
