Beef from New Zealand is in demand in the global market because other exporting countries can currently only supply a limited amount of cattle MEAT.

New Zealand beef and mutton exporters fared better in August than they had in a long time. The National Meat Industry Association (MIA) recently announced that red meat EXPORT revenue reached NZ$650 million, or €390 million, up a quarter year-over-year. According to the association, this was mainly due to a 39% increase in beef export revenue to 179 million euros. Revenue from trade with CHINA increased by 89 percent to 70 million euros; US deliveries rose 31 percent to 61 million euros.

According to MIA Managing DIRECTOR Sirma Karapeyeva, 35,327 tons of beef were sold abroad in August, which is 71 percent more than the average monthly volume over the past 30 years. According to her, the difficult situation with global supplies helped. Stockpiling in Australia and export restrictions in Argentina limited international shipments. In addition, in early September, China stopped importing Brazilian beef due to an outbreak of atypical bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
