Scientists from the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) have developed a new vaccine against avian influenza for domestic and wild carnivores.

The immune response in animals develops 21-28 days after a single vaccine administration, and protection lasts for at least six months. Only clinically healthy animals should be vaccinated; dogs and cats can be vaccinated at any age, with a single dose followed by a booster dose six months later. Fur-bearing animals are vaccinated starting at 8-10 weeks of age, with a single dose administered. Adult animals should be vaccinated one month before their first birthday.

The drug was successfully registered in the Russian Federation on April 21. In 2025, a total of seven new vaccines were registered for the prevention of diseases in various animal species, including birds, fish, cattle, and small ruminants. Research conducted in 2024 resulted in the development of eleven vaccines, underscoring the importance of the All-Russian Research Institute of Animal HEALTH in veterinary prevention.
