Turkey meat production increased by almost 80 percent

According to the expert community, among all areas of poultry farming in the Russian Federation, turkey MEAT producers demonstrate the highest growth rates.
According to the National Association of Turkey Producers, over the past five years, RUSSIA has risen in the world ranking from seventh to third place, increasing output by 80% - from 231 thousand tons in 2017 to 414.6 thousand tons in 2022. At the same time, the increase compared to 2021, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 3.6%.

The sub-sector shows positive dynamics in all segments - in large and medium-sized businesses, farms and personal subsidiary plots. The register of leaders in the regions of the Russian Federation in this direction also includes the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, where this type of agribusiness prevails in peasant (farmer) households, agricultural consumer cooperatives and personal farmsteads of villagers.

“In our republic, turkey breeding has a traditional, I would say, national character,” emphasizes Valery Borsov, executive DIRECTOR of the agricultural consumer processing cooperative “Standard-Agro” (settlement Chegem II, Chegemsky district). – it should be noted that the market for this segment of the agro-industrial complex in Kabardino-Balkaria is actively developing, but in order to scale this extremely profitable and profitable type of agribusiness, we need to increase the production of hatching eggs across Russia. In this part, it is necessary to significantly reduce dependence on foreign supplies. We purchased hatching eggs in the Netherlands under the direct supply scheme. After well-known sanctions, they are forced to import the same egg from the same producer through Turkey. Firstly, these are considerable additional costs, and secondly, travel time,

According to the forecast of the Vice-Rector of the Kabardino-Balkarian State Agrarian University. V.M. Kokov on research work, DOCTOR of Agricultural Sciences Rustam Abdulkhalikov, this year the production of turkey meat in Russia will reach about 420 thousand tons, and by 2030 - 650 thousand tons. According to the calculations of local analysts, in this segment, the contribution of the CBD in the short term can be about 100 thousand tons annually.

“Among the main growth factors is the high supply of the market with its own raw materials for the manufacture of animal feed: wheat, corn, soybeans, vegetable oil and other components,” R. Abdulkhalikov explained. - In Kabardino-Balkaria, crop production is primarily focused on sustainable support for animal husbandry, including poultry. That is, the high profitability of the industry is ensured by crop production - the basis of the forage base on its own raw materials.

It should also be added that Kabardino-Balkaria supplies a wide range of turkey meat and meat products to the constituent entities of the North Caucasus Federal District, to megacities - Moscow and St. Petersburg, large industrial centers of the Urals and Siberia. The main advantage of the range of profile products from CBD is environmental friendliness and budget price.
