May 25, Vitebsk. In the Lepel district, a man set fire to a neighbor's house out of revenge. This was reported to a BelTA correspondent by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
A fire in one of the private houses in the village of Gadivlya occurred on May 12. The owner of the dwelling returned from the forest earlier than planned, discovered a fire and immediately called the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Rescuers managed to extinguish the flames, but the fire managed to partially destroy the walls of the building, ceilings, and property. The amount of damage was estimated at almost Br10 thousand. On the spot, the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations found out that the fire broke out as a result of setting fire to a bag of garbage. They hurried to transfer this information to the local police department.Clarification of all the details of the incident was taken up by the employees of the criminal investigation department. They've identified the arsonist. As it turned out, there was a guest in the house before the fire, and he threw the match, moreover, on purpose. The visit was made by a 44-year-old neighbor of the victim. Later, he told police officers that he had been drinking ALCOHOL all day.. When the supplies of alcohol ran out, the man went for a walk around the village. He remembered the debt of a 37-year-old fellow villager and that he offended his mother several years ago. These thoughts led the drunken neighbor to the right house. At first, the suspect knocked on the doors and windows, but when he received no answer, he broke one of the windows and got inside. He was annoyed that the owner was not there, and decided to take revenge on his property. The guest set fire to a bag of garbage, and then fled. Despite the shock dose of alcohol in the blood, the villager took care of the evidence - he hid his sneakers in the forest to confuse the tracks.
Investigators opened a criminal case against the suspect for deliberate destruction of another's property. The man faces up to 2 years in prison.
